Christian and Social Action

This is performed by members of the commission to help those in our
community who are in need. For more information contact the parish office.

Food Pantry
Families in need are able to pick up a food basket twice a month by calling
the parish office. Food is donated by parishioners through drives and
donations. Watch the parish bulletin for special drives.

Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers from Our Lady of Grace church are invited to assist with building
projects as they arise. Call the parish office for contact information.

Ministry to Shut-Ins
This ministry visits and assist homebound parishioners. Contact the parish
office to find out how to get involved.

OLG Outreach Ministry
This organization helps individuals and families with food, clothing, furniture,
financial assistance in times of emergency. The organization hold can and
paper drives to raise money for those emergencies. The “Angel Tree” project
at Christmas, which provides gifts for needy children in our community, is also
done through this ministry.

Outreach-St. Louis De Gonzague
This is our sister parish of Our Lady of Grace in Haiti. Monetary donations are
asked of parishioners periodically throughout the year, along with special
fundraisers.

Pro-Life Ministry
This ministry presents and fosters Catholic teaching regarding all
aspects and stages of life-from conception to death, and includes the areas of
stem cell research and the question of the death penalty.
Social Needs and Family Assistance
Please contact the parish office for information regarding this matter and they
will be able to refer you to the proper department or agency depending on
your situation.

Soup Kitchen
For those in need, the Soup Kitchen is located at St. Joseph’s Church on State
Street in Hammond, IN. Food is prepared on site, and the meal is served from
noon until 1:30pm. Please contact St. Joseph’s Church for additional
Information at 931-7682.

Warming Shelter
The shelter is located on State Street in Hammond. The OLG Outreach Ministry
prepares a meal at the OLG cafeteria on the third Wednesday of each month,
then delivers and serves it at the shelter between 5:00p.m. and 6:00p.m. For
more information contact OLG Outreach Ministry of OLG. Help is always
needed.
